The fall release of Community Server 2008 -- officially Community
Server 2008.5 -- is now available as a beta.
You can download it here:
Help us improve the Wiki component, please provide feedback here:
Here are some details on what you’ll find:
Collaborative Documents (Wikis)
Community Server now includes a Wiki as both a stand-alone application as well as integrated into the groups functionality. More details about the new Wiki capabilities can be found here.
Question and Answer Workflow
Question
and answer behavior isn’t new to Community Server’s forums, but we’ve
done a lot more work in this release to improve it even further. For
example, you’ll find better visual cues as to which posts are answers
to specific questions and answers are bubbled up to the top of the post
to ensure that people browsing can quickly find answers.
Avatar improvements
Similar
to Question and Answer, Avatar support is something Community Server
has always had but we’ve made some big improvements. We’ve added the
ability to include default avatars and improved some of the workflow
around avatar management.
Behind the scenes Workflow improvements
In
addition to the great new features we’ve also done a lot of work around
normal “workflow” scenarios to make the experience when using Community
Server better. Most of these are small adjustments that we hope you
won’t even notice (because that means we’ve done a good job).
What about Community Server Evolution?
This beta is not inclusive of the new Evolution line of Community Server
– Evolution is a version of Community Server designed specifically for
use behind the firewall (Intranets). We’ll share more details about
Evolution soon.
Community Server Conference
P.S., if
you are interested in social media & digital marketing and are
looking for some indepth discussions around those topics and the
Community Server platform, you should come to the in.telligent.com Conference in Dallas, Texas October 20 – 22nd.
